Poor volume control for this talk. Difficult to hear
Dr. McClain is clearly an expert in histiocytic disorders, but he presented outdated and factually incorrect information on MDS that was fortunately contradicted by the immediate preceding presentation, and he clarified this during Q&A when asked. I also found his Q&A style to be very focused on his own opinions and dismissive of the board requirements and current standards that are testable. I recommend replacing him in future courses with someone who is aligned with the goals of this product, as opposed to an "ask the expert" session on LCH, which is how he treated this.
Dr. McClain is clearly very experienced and knows the topic very well as an expert but has a hard time to explain it effectively.
syllabus was not made available to on line participants - this was the only major drawback to purchasing access to this course
Very well-presented, clear
Wonderful Q7A session
I would not ask Dr. McClain back for the next review session
May be nice (when feasible) to insert questions that reiterate content that the presenter thinks is most relevant to the board exam (for engagement)
Informative lecture.
Felt this lecture was overall less focused on board preparation and more about how presenter practices/his experience - may be more useful for practical clinical use, but felt less prepared for this section of the boards
Maybe more slides on application of material.
Good lecture overall. I think most unclear to me was the duration for which one can "observe" JMML with PTPN11 and CBL mutations vs pull the trigger to treat; and also on the therapy slide, how to determine if you use mild, moderate, or severe therapy.
Thorough and interesting
Perhaps because of where this lecture fell in the course of the day, and the relatively dense course material that had to be covered, but I really felt like I got the least out of this lecture (as compared to the other lectures of the day). Dr. McClain is obviously an expert in the field, but I found that the lecture was really broad, hard to follow in terms of what is most important on the boards, and really dry. I'm sure that it's just a hard lecture to make exciting. Wonder if the review series would be better served by having a new clinician/clinician-scientist breathe some new life into the lecture.
Good talk, Would love a figure or table with all the important basics/genetics to refer to for studying for boards.
Really clear and concise lecture. Slides are great, appreciate all the photos, helps solidify information. Greatly appreciate highlighting specific board points!
difficult to follow, presenter was not engaging
Some topics appear to have variability between what we have to know for the boards and what is current clinical practice... understandably given rapid pace of new information.
This felt a bit too much like a traditional lecture (and I wanted a few more "high level stopping/review points" along the way. The Q&A session was excellent and more engaging so it might just be the on-line recorded format. Overall thank you
Helpful presentation highlighting many useful topics.
Great lecture
Great job Dr. McClain, clearly very passionate about this topic.
detailed and well presented
I wouldn't mind a slide or too about Rosai Dorfman!
Overall solid presentation.
ability to hear was difficult.
First speaker that was not quite engaging. Did follow ABP content specs however lacked focus points and was more of an overall general review of MDS
Content was dry, and teaching style did not adhere to any tenants of adult learning theory i.e., no active learning elements like test questions, slides were dense and not attractive/easy to read.
MDS section does not reflect 2022 WHO guidelines. Would have appreciated clarification on which guidelines boards will use of if won't be tested since there are discrepencies.
The slides were not organized and were difficult to follow, and it was challenging to determine what content was relevant to boards.
excellent
ALthough all the information presented was helpful in terms of overall knowledge of these conditions, it was a lot information that may or may not be very important for boards. Streamlining approaches a bit tailored to this may help with digesting the material. This felt more like a good lecture in fellowship rather than a review course lecture.
This was a bit hard to follow as the topics were not all related - no fault of the presenter - just hard to follow the changing topics.
Enjoyed the new knowledge.
